Hi, I am Tica Lin!
CV | Google Scholar | Twitter | LinkedIn
I am currently building the future of sports storytelling at SportsBuddy.ai, driven by my passion for interactive technology, data visualization, and sports. I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Harvard University. My research focuses on Immersive Analytics, SportsXR, and Human-AI Interaction, particularly in developing XR visualization and interaction for real-life dynamic environments. My vision is to augment human intelligence with AI and XR technologies, merging physical and digital experiences through data-driven, human-centered design.
My work, recognized with Best Paper Awards at HCI & Visualization Community, has been published in top venues such as ACM SIGCHI, IEEE VIS, and TVCG journal. I have contributed to the development of innovative AR/VR and AI technologies at Adobe Research, Apple Vision Products Group and Facebook Reality Labs as a research intern. Prior to embarking on the Ph.D. journey, I served as a Sr. Data Visualization Designer at Visa and was the first UX Designer at Philadelphia 76ers, experiences I shared in my book “My 76ers Story”.
I believe that “Design quality grows from intellectual quality,” which guides my growth both in sensation and knowledge as a designer and researcher. I also wrote a Ph.D. Survival Kit in Harvard Graduate Review to help fellow students navigate the PhD hardship. You can find my work in publications and my life experiences in CV.
